Aniket Maroo (Principal)
Aniket founded Maroo Advisory in 1995 as a practice focused on common sense business practices, providing practical business advice to a wide range of corporate and owner managed businesses, drawing on over 29 years’ experience in the profession covering many disciplines. He has also participated in the wider accounting community, being involved in Curtin University’s Growth Program as mentor and presenter in Financial Dynamics since the program’s inception in 1995.
Following a combined honours degree in Mathematics and Management Sciences from the University of Manchester, Aniket has practiced accounting on four continents: his experience in England, Canada, Kenya and Australia has included 14 years with two of the Big Four international accounting firms including seven years with the Perth practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Aniket is married with 2 boys and enjoys reading, gentle sports and investing in the Australian Stock Market.
Shannon Castensen (Principal)
Shannon’s only job in the public accounting field has been with Maroo Advisory since August 2001 when he joined as a graduate, fresh out of University with a double major in Accounting and Finance. Shannon has played an integral part towards Maroo Advisory’s growth as a successful accounting practice. He cares about his clients and builds strong relationships with them, working with them not only with tax compliance but also on successful business development.
Shannon has excellent interpersonal skills and he enjoys client relationship management. He combines a high level taxation expertise with the ability to convey complex information in easily understood formats. He has well developed organisational and time management skills and gives high attention to detail. He is a strong team builder and facilitator, effectively mentoring and managing staff.
Shannon is married and has 3 boys. He enjoys socialising with his friends and looks forward to his annual fishing trip to Steep Point with his friends just before Christmas every year.
Patrick Thompson (Manager, Toodyay Office)
Patrick is an integral and valued member of the Maroo Advisory team operating from our Toodyay Office. After completing a bachelor of commerce at Curtin University, majoring in accounting and financial planning, he became a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand in early 2012. With an emphasis on providing quality accounting and taxation expertise, together with excellent client service skills, he enjoys working with all of the practice’s clients to help improve their business.
Outside of Maroo Advisory, Patrick is married and a keen sports person. He enjoys being able to operate from his home country town of Toodyay, where he plays football and has lots for free time to spend with his family and his 2 young sons.
